Can you describe for us your first month with Enlite Fitness and what have you achieved?

I came to Maida Vale feeling rather nervous about exercising. I was ‘morbidly obese’and felt rather unfit. In the short time I’ve been with Enlite Fitness I feel as if I’ve developed some real ability to exercise and I now look forward to my sessions withClifton and Edo. I find myself suddenly realizing that I’m doing stuff that I couldn’t do a month ago and if I say so myself, doing it well (because I have good teachers).

What made you think about hiring a Personal Trainer?

I was told that I had to do something about my weight as part of my training to be a priest. Someone else told me that if I was serious then I needed to work hard at it and the only real way to do that was with a personal trainer.

What was your biggest worry when thinking about starting training again?

I had the image in my head of a trainer shouting at me and telling me to do stuff that I couldn’t do. How wrong I was.

Why did you choose Enlite Fitness?

I received a recommendation from someone who had been training with them for years and said how good they were.

How do you manage to train 4 times per week?

The simple answer is I put the dates in the diary and have them booked in weeks in advance. That means that I don’t just do it when I fancy it, it makes a difference knowing that someone is waiting for you there. Edo also advised me to do the same with my non training days when I exercise on my own. It works too.

How do you stay motivated?

Clifton and Edo are my motivation. They encourage me as I exercise and I now know that I can do the things they ask of me.

What do you enjoy most about training?

The most enjoyable part is the end! The fantastic feeling of having had a good training session is unbeatable. I always go away with a smile on my face and feeling elated (if not a bit tired). The thing that I always look forward to is some boxing with Clifton, I never know which session it will happen, so I always have that little bit of hope and expectation.

How would you describe Enlite Fitness?

The first words that come to mind are fantastic, professional and encouraging. They know how to stretch someone without feeling they can’t do what is asked of them. They have the gift of encouragement. When I looked them up on the website it looked a bit scary, but nothing can be further from the truth. Also it’s not just about exercising in the park but a whole life approach in looking at nutrition and exercise together. They have an eye for detail and so will not let you get away with doing things badly.

What do you like most about Enlite Fitness?

Basically Clifton and Edo. My time with them flies by. I’m already telling friends what great guys they are – the fact that I look forward to and enjoy my training sessions shows that miracles can still happen.

Margaret has been with us since January 2012 and in that time she has made some astonishing progress. Upon starting with us Margaret was inactive for over two years due to a serious injury she sustained to her ankle. After the operation she attempted to restart training on few occasions but was unsuccessful due to the pain exercise would cause. 2 years of inactivity resulted in her gaining weight which also put more strain on her weak ankle. As it would happen with all of us, gaining weight and living a sedentary lifestyle brings on many more barriers to restarting training, When she started training with us she was slightly nervous but within 2 weeks she was settled and now she is known as one of the most motivational people to share sessions with. In the last 10 months her ankle has improved greatly in strength and now she can participate in all exercises. Last week she was even the first client to do a decline press ups on a bench. Her drive and determination has also helped her to lose over 22kg!Below we ask Margaret a few questions:

What made you think about hiring a Personal Trainer?

Basically I was huge and I knew that the only way I had controlled my weight in the past was by doing exercise I enjoyed. I was going to re-join a boxing gym, but the day I was going I met Clifton at the tube handing out leaflets. The park is just a short walk from my home and I knew that making life easy by training somewhere so close would be really helpful. Also, if you’re meeting someone outdoors, yes, you may have paid them, but it is only courteous to turn up really and I’m quite big on courtesy. Anyway, it seemed easy enough to give it a go and see if it was fun.

What was your biggest worry when thinking about starting training again?

Frankly I was so big and had had such a severe injury, I really didn’t know how they would get me started. Very, very gently was the answer.

Why did you choose Enlite Fitness?

Clifton seemed cheery at the tube and Edo was great when I had my first session. I’ve seen a tendency in some fitness professionals to not quite hide their disdain at those of us who have let ourselves go. I didn’t get that vibe from them, I got a good vibe. My husband, was also nervous re. that so I took him to a social evening and he has now joined as well.

How do you manage to train three times per week?

Really isn’t a problem, it is time very well spent.

How do you stay motivated?

Very easily frankly. It is fun and the results are brilliant.

What do you enjoy most about training?

The camaraderie is terrific. There are several other clients I have gotten to know and I enjoy my time with them. I also love the fact that, while my initial goal was to go gently into middle age (ok that may sound pathetic but really I was wobbling and wheezing into it) , I am actually fitter and stronger than I have ever been.

How would you describe Enlite Fitness?

Uber professional in both knowledge and attitude.

What do you like most about Enlite Fitness?

They’re great guys and they’ll really help you get results. If frankly this all sounds a bit gushy, well I really feel a bit gushy.

In this time, he has managed to lower his cholesterol from seven to four and his blood pressure from 140/95 to 120/85 while at the same time managing to lose a lot of weight. He has gone from a 36” waist to a 31”.We have asked Thaddeus few questions so that you will be able to see how he has managed all this:

What made you think about hiring a Personal Trainer?

I have always had personal trainers—but never any combination better than Clifton and Edo. They have wide knowledge and experience. I probably most benefit from their drive and their attention to the details of correct training.

Why did you choose Enlite Fitness?

I had trained with them before they became Enlite Fitness.

How do you manage to train four times per week?

I work from 10.00 to 21.00. So I usually train from 08.00 – 09.00 Monday to Friday. On Tuesday mornings, I see my shrink. We are working on my Narcissistic Personality Disorder.

How do you stay motivated?

You just have to push through the reluctance. Once that is done—things become easier.

What do you enjoy most about training?

The after effects [but I quite like sprints]

How would you describe Enlite Fitness?

This is a professional outfit. They actually know about training, fitness, nutrition and health.

What do you like most about Enlite Fitness?

I really like their smart offices at 79 Marylebone Lane. Like them, their offices are a masterpiece of understatement.

Well done Thaddeus and we look forward to seeing you on Monday morning!
